Family Business Coaching & Consulting

How does business coaching help business growth?

The Denver Family Business Center follows the CASTLE model when working with our clients.

Control - We help the business owner gain control of the fiscal performance of their business by concentrating on important numbers. Then we focus on growth of these numbers.

Aspiration - We discuss the long-term goals of the business and ascertain a passion for the business in order to achieve these aspirations.

Strategy - We establish a business plan that will help your business dominate your market. This plan includes establishing your position in the market, what you do best, services provided, products, and your target customer.

Tactics - We institute ways you will achieve visibility in your marketplace and establish a profitable company.

Leverage- We teach ways in which the business can run with or without the owner. We help you learn how to work "on" your business rather than "in" your business.

Evolution- We support the business's constant development through acquiring new skills, knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs.

What is the business coaching process?

The usual coaching engagement includes weekly hourly coaching sessions. There is more time spent at the beginning of the engagement with the coach, as the coach becomes familiar with your business and the players involved. Throughout the coaching engagement, Denver Family Business Center addresses client's perceptions that are holding them back from accomplishing their goals. This perceptual coaching enhances the engagement and affirms sustainable personal, professional, and business growth for our clients.

Phase 1 - Assessment We begin by requesting data such as income statements, balance sheets, business plans, product/service list and pricing, job descriptions, operating procedures, training programs and manuals, etc.

Phase 2- Take Control Through several metrics, we calculate your business’s breakeven volume, revenue, profit, and cash flow. We help you get behind your numbers and learn how they drive your business.

Phase 3- Aspirations We discuss the future development of your business. We assess if the business is set up to accomplish both personal and professional goals. Aspirations are discussed throughout the coaching process.

Phase 4- Strategy How does you business compete in the marketplace? Several strategies can be implemented to dominate your marketplace such as finding a niche, creating change in the market, or going head to head with your competitors. A stream of questions provided by your coach will assist you in creating a concrete and personalized strategy for your business.

Phase 5 - Tactics At this point, our clients have control over their numbers, are connected to their aspirations, and are comfortable with strategies needed to thrive in the market. During this phase, we establish tactics to increase revenues, profit margins, and cash flow. Tactics also include marketing strategy. We include worksheets that identify new tactics and measure their effectiveness.

Phase 6- Leverage We work toward the business being capable of running without the owner. This gives our clients more time, the business will be set to grow and make more money, and the business will be worth more money when it is time to sell it. We train our clients to think like CEO’s rather than technicians constantly working on their business. We increase the time the owner works "on" the business rather than "in" it. We establish a strong organizational structure, systems, and processes. We recruit the right people to work in the business and create robust teams with strong leadership.

Phase 7-Evolution Businesses who do not evolve will fall behind in their market. We help businesses with acquiring the necessary attitude, knowledge, skills, and network for sustainable success. We chart this skill set through a development plan that states what, how and by when the skills will be established.
